Background

COVID-19 becomes the common enemy of mankind in the global epidemic in 2020. To cope with this war, mankind focused on the power and power of medicine. The World Health Organization (WHO) also calls on people to take measures such as wearing face masks, face shields, aprons, and gloves to resist the invasion of coronavirus (WHO, 2019). At the same time, many countries and organizations are equally concerned about the damage to the ecosystem caused by a large amount of medical waste. Government agencies and organizations also make corresponding decisions for the generation of medical waste, and academia also produces a large number of studies on medical waste management (Glasziou et al., 2020). However, these still failed to curb the damage of medical waste to the ecological environment. Among them, the threat to Marine life is obvious.

Marine pollutants can seriously affect Marine ecology, destroy its physical, chemical, and biological characteristics, and threaten the diversity of the ocean (Li et al., 2016). Although this problem has been raised, not every citizen can realize the seriousness of the problem. Faced with such a serious problem, it is everyone's responsibility and obligation to reach a consensus on protecting Marine life from medical waste.

How Does It Work?

Art can arouse people's sympathy and consciousness, and its culture and content bring invisible benefits to human beings and society. Artwork can be a bridge of communication between people and build meaning in relationships (Wilson, 2012). Public art has different valuable characteristics such as high participation and high socialization (Selwood, 1995). In the age of digital information, the emergence of new media has exerted a great deal of influence on art, and art and media are constantly merging (Gere, 2008). The online art exhibition has become a new form. The online public art exhibition with the theme of marine life affected by the epidemic waste can serve as an effective platform for public participation and arouse people's awareness of sustainable development and Marine environmental protection.
